Our Flag turns 60!!Saturday February 15th 2025 This February 15 marks the 60th anniversary of our flag. Since it was first raised in 1965, this national emblem represents the values we all cherish – generosity, openness, respect and equality. A flag that could not be mistaken for any other, it connects us to our national identity, to our Canadian pride and to each other. Seeing our bright red and white flag with its maple leaf flying reminds us of the home we all share.
This year, more than ever, not only do we have to celebrate our flag but also remind ourselves what it represents: our values, our resilience and our sovereignty. In the last week, public displays of national pride have become more prominent following external economic pressures. The growing sense of unity and national identity is an occasion to engage Canadians to mark the flag’s anniversary. The kick-off to mark the anniversary of our flag will take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, under the theme “Celebrate our love for the Canadian Flag.” I invite you to join the celebrations this week. Here’s how you can participate:
Together, let’s choose Canada and celebrate our love for the Canadian flag by flying it proudly from coast to coast to coast and making this a celebration to remember! |

Wednesday Night Sharing CircleWednesday evenings via Zoom On tap: "Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time" by Marcus Borg Sharing in circle has a long history of transformation and community strength in both indigenous and addictions recovery traditions. Sharing in circle allows us both opportunity to listen, and when our turn arrives, to speak. A topic is raised each Wednesday in the realms of Faith, Justice, Spirituality, and Action in the Christian tradition that we are invited to reflect on and share if we wish. Rev. Jonathan usually facilitates the circle. Please contact him for the zoom access: rector@staugustinesedmonton.com We have used books, video, or individual presentations as our 'prompts' for the evening. "Doors" open at 7:45pm, process begins at 8pm-9pm. The zoom stays on until 9:30pm latest for those who want to chat more.

GATHERING AROUND THE KITCHEN TABLEThursday afternoons 1.30pm - 2.45pm A Zoom Event I'm so happy that it is time to gather again. Our weekly winter session will resume on Thursday, January 16th from 1:30 to 2:45 pm. You are invited to gather together on Zoom to enjoy these informal afternoons with friends as we explore and reflect on various aspects of our life of faith--and how this informs the choices we make as we encounter the complex and sometimes confusing times that we live in.
Handouts will be sent by e-mail early each week to help bring a focus to our conversation. So bring your coffee or tea or “whatever” and gather around our virtual kitchen table.
If you have any questions or want more information, contact me at wildrosie7@gmail.com. Please feel free to invite a friend to join us.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all each week.
Anne
