We need to be connected.
We need moments to realize that we are not alone.
And we need some fun!
Summer is a great time for all these things and I want to highlight for you our joint BBQ and service with St. Luke’s Anglican down at Gold Bar Park in two weeks time. *There will be no service at St. Augustine’s proper that day.* If you need a ride down, please call the church office (See poster and RSVP below)
I think that in days past, in the Canadian church ‘gold-rush’ of the 50s, 60s and 70s, churches were able to stand more easily on their own. As neighborhoods have changed demographics, and societal views on organized religion have changed, we are in a time of review.
We need to talk less about our own church being a stand-alone silo, and more about the Anglican/Christian mission in an area.
We need to talk less about denominations and more about the Body of Christ active in a neighborhood.
We acknowledge and live within our traditions, and yet we forge new ground.
One small bit of bridge-building is to worship and enjoy a Sunday with one of our closest Anglican Churches.
Let’s take the chance to get to know our church neighbors and ask them what they love about St. Luke’s and tell them what you love about St. A’s.
In worship we will pray together, sing together, and celebrate the gift of God in Christ together. We will eat together, and have chance for some great fun together. Our kids will be celebrated with lot’s of activities and a message they can really get into, so please bring them and any friends along!
See you there!
